James H. Chamberlain, Director and Chairman
James
has served as Director, President
and Chief Executive Officer of BioSource International, Inc. since it
was founded in October 1989, and was elected as its Chairman of the Board
in November 1993. He retired from all positions in September 2000. Previously,
Mr. Chamberlain was Manager of Business Development for Amgen, Inc.,
where he started and managed the Amgen Biologicals Division. Mr. Chamberlain
has held various executive positions with Browning Ferris Industries
and Amersham Corporation, a Biomedical Company. He currently serves as
a director of Alpha Innotech, a public California-based biotechnology
firm; and as a director of Protea BioSciences, a private Morgantown,
WV based biotechnology firm. He has served on the Board of Directors
of the WVU Foundation since November 2001. He received his Bachelor of
Arts degree from West Virginia University.
Dr. Sherry Challberg, Marligen Founder, CEO and
Director
Sherry has over 25 years experience in the biotech sector and has
participated in building two young biotech ventures. Prior to founding
Marligen Biosciences in 2001, Dr. Challberg led product and business
development efforts in genomics and molecular biology research at Invitrogen
(formerly Life Technologies.) From 1985 until its acquisition by Digene
Corporation in 1990, Dr. Challberg headed the molecular diagnostics
product development group at Life Technologies. She then served as
Vice President of R&D for Digene Corporation. She received her
Ph.D. in biochemistry from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Bill Snider, Managing Partner, BroadOak
Bill is co-founder and Managing Partner at BroadOak. Mr. Snider
has over 15 years of institutional investment experience. Prior to
BroadOak, he was a general partner and co-founder of Emerging Technology
Partners, LLC, a life sciences focused venture capital firm. He has
invested in over 20 life science companies while at ETP of which more
than half were or are now publicly traded. Mr. Snider, at various times,
acted as lead investor, board member and chairman for ETP’s portfolio
companies. Prior to ETP he was a vice president and portfolio manager
at T. Rowe Price. His responsibilities included managing $2 billion
of mutual fund and institutional client portfolios. Mr. Snider’s
current and past directorships include Alpha Innotech, Atto Biosciences
and Marligen Biosciences. Bill holds the Chartered Financial Analysts
accreditation, a B.S. in Finance and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School
at the University of Pennsylvania.
Lars H. Hanan, Managing Partner, BroadOak
Lars is co-founder and Managing Partner at BroadOak. With 20 years
of corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions experience, Lars
Hanan has executed over 100 transactions in a broad range of industries.
Prior to BroadOak, Lars built and managed the life scieces advisory
business at Mercator Capital. Before joining Mercator Lars headed
the M&A Group at ABN AMRO Investment Banking. In addition to heading
the U.S. M&A Group, Mr. Hanan was also a member of the firm’s
Fairness Opinion Committees and he was also responsible for the firm’s
Healthcare M&A practice with particular sector expertise in medical
technology and drug discovery tools. Lars was previously Head of Mergers & Acquisitions
for SG Cowen’s Media Group managing a wide variety of domestic
and cross border transactions. Prior to joining SG Cowen, Lars held
senior mergers and acquisitions positions at Kidder, Peabody and Lehman
Brothers. Lars currently serves on the boards of Marligen Biosciences,
A&G Pharmaceuticals and Noxilizer. Lars holds a B.A. in Economics
from the University of Virginia and an M.B.A. from the J.L. Kellogg
School of Management at Northwestern University.
